Hiltra
Transport box for lithium-ion batteries
The danger of lithium-ion batteries is well known by now.
O.a. Youtube is full of videos of batteries that unexpectedly go into thermal-runaway or explode and can quickly cause great damage while "spitting fire". Particular attention should be paid to batteries whose technical condition or State of Charge is unknown.
The ADR has special requirements for the transport of lithium ion batteries. Lithium ion batteries are subject to packing instructions such as P903, P903a, P903b for UN 3480/3481. For defective or damaged batteries, heavier instructions may apply such as P908, P909, P910 or P911 (via special provision 376/377). Precisely for these "unreliable" lithium-ion batteries, Hiltra Barneveld B.V. offers a special ADR approved transport box, the Hiltra Battery Box S1.
The box is tested and approved for use according to ADR 2023 P911 and authorized for up to 500 Wh to
.
battery capacity. Developed in accordance with the latest dangerous goods regulations (ADR 2023, P911) from the BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing.
Proven by real fire tests:
- No flame formation and no projectiles escaping in case of damage.
- Perfect thermal insulation <100 °C on the outer jacket when damaged.
- Gas management system (for all box variants).
- Fuel gas discharge only through a filter system and discharge through defined openings and filtering of the toxic and corrosive hydrogen fluoride (HF).
Unnecessary for e.g. service and assembly services that return batteries to their customers for inspection, refurbishing, recycling or final disposal. That makes driving a lot safer!
